Night-flowering jasmine, Coral Jasmine or Parijat is a beautiful plant whose flowers fall to the ground after blooming. Nyctanthes arbor-tristis is the scientific name which means “sad tree” as the flowers lose their brightness during the day.
The word ‘Parijat’ literally means celestial. Flowers bloom at night and fall down from the branches in the first rays of light. These highly fragrant flowers open at night, spreading their fragrance in the surrounding area with an intensely sweet floral aroma. These flowers blossom from August to December.

In India, this flower is also known as “the ornament of The Gods” and is the only flower which can be offered to the Gods after being picked up from the ground.

You say this is the only flower that can be offered to the gods after being picked up from the ground. Intriguing. In what culture?

Beautiful flowers and I especially like the fallen ones. No wonder they are acceptable to the gods.
