Emotion overwhelmed me and I felt humble to be standing in the same place which had witnessed such brutality and had played a pivotal role in our independence.
This place was a witness to a massacre that shook the whole country. Seeing the bullet riddled walls made me realize how important our freedom was.
These pillars are monument for all those who died in the massacre and names of the innocent people who were massacred were carved into the pillars.
Standing in a corner, I try to reconstruct the scene where the innocent people were brutally killed. People running to dodge bullets and heaps of bodies lying.
With moistened eyes, I salute to their sacrifice and thank for the independence that we have today.
Beautiful ramya.. Pillars of sacrifice indeed..

These pillars have seen less violence, perhaps, but are in a place that can be just as brutal…
