Shortcut

Are you sure we are on the right track?“, enquired Ashwin.

Ah.. I think so…“, replied Aditya.

Ashwin looked at Aditya skeptically and said, “It was your idea to take a shortcut. We drove almost more than 60kms than planned.”

After driving for almost 20 minutes, the car windows started fogging up.

It’s almost noon. Why the windows are fogging and do you feel the chill?“, asked Ashwin rubbing the windshield from inside with his sleeve. He could see the road ahead and some settlements nearby. He noticed that for some reason these houses were deserted.

Empty houses are more scarier than empty roads“, said Aditya shivering in cold.

After driving for almost another 20 odd minutes, they reached the exact same spot of empty settlements. They drove nonetheless and reached the same spot third time.

Confused, Ashwin stopped the car and said, “We are going round in circles. How are we going to get out of here?”.

“You came, but you cannot leave“, said an evil voice from behind.
