Modak is an Indian
Sweet which is popular in many parts of India. There is a sweet filling inside which is made up of grated coconut and jaggery.
There is religious significance to modaks.Modaks are favorite sweet of Hindu lord – Ganesha.During Ganesh festival, modaks are prepared as offering to Ganesha.
I clicked this picture when my mother took Modaks out from steamer.Modak can be steamed or fried. These are steamed modak made from rice flour, hence outer shell is of white color.
The fried modak is of wheat flour which gives it a soft golden-brownish color. The inside filling is the same, but it gives a different taste and stays fresh for long time.
Hope all of you like my favorite sweet offering.
