Every city has something that makes it special. Thanks to this photo challenge, all of us got to showcase our city in new light.
I live in beautiful city of Pune, Maharashtra,India. This city is mix of urban and rural culture. Pune consists of many places with historical value.
One of such places is Shaniwarwada. This is one of the places with historical importance. Built in 1732, this structure was built as a residential mansion for Peshwas. It was large destroyed by unexplained fire but the remaining structure are now tourist attraction.
Pune is famous for Ganesh festival. Ganesh festival is the hindu festival wherein Lord Ganesh – the Elephant God is worshipped for 10 days. The clay idols of Ganesha are installed in homes and public places.Various activities like games, prayer chanting take place during this duration. The festival ends on the tenth day after start, wherein the idol is carried in a public procession with music and group chanting, then immersed in nearby water body such as a river or ocean, thereafter the clay idol dissolves.
This particular Ganesh idol is one the biggest idol which is on the mountain top.
The night life is equally vibrant as the city. This picture is of a circus that had come to the city.
To simplify, Pune is a vibrant and thriving metropolis and cultural capital.
